What are the Stanford Understanding the Future of Medicine Workshops?
Stanford Medicine has a strong history of being at the forefront of medical technologies. Our Understanding the Future of Medicine Workshops provide access to new ideas in the areas of medicine and healthcare. Workshops will be held yearly in the fall. Topics are based on groundbreaking research, the latest case studies, and the most current information.
Can I participate virtually?
We do not currently offer a virtual option for the workshops. Let us know if you are interested in potential future virtual offerings.
Will I receive acknowledgment of my workshop attendance?
Certificates of attendance are awarded to participants upon completion of the workshop.

How do I apply?

What are the Stanford Future of Medicine admissions requirements?

WORKSHOP DETAILS
What does a typical day look like?
A typical day runs from 8:30 AM to 5 PM with two to four faculty sessions, a morning and afternoon break, and lunch. Faculty share their experiences, present case studies, and lead exercises to guide participant discussions and discovery.
What is the usual class size?
We are aiming for about 20 participants.
Where do the workshops take place?
Unless noted, workshops are held in the Jen-Hsun Huang Engineering Center (475 Via Ortega), Room HEC018 (in the basement) in Stanford, California.
PAYMENTS / CANCELLATIONS
What is included in the workshop fee?
Standalone workshop rate: $199
Student combo rate (with the Big Ideas in Medicine conference): $99
Big Ideas in Medicine Conference + Workshop combo rate: An additional $50 to your Big Ideas rate
Fee covers the one-day workshop, materials, snacks, and lunch. Housing, dinners, and travel are not included.
When is payment due?
Payment is due immediately and must be received to confirm your seat.
What types of payment are accepted?
Payment can be made by company check, electronic bank wire transfer, or credit card (we accept American Express, MasterCard, or Visa). Registrants will be asked to provide payment information at the time of registration.
What is your cancellation policy?
No refunds are offered. If you need to cancel please let us know. If your seat can be filled from the waitlist, we will reach out.
Is financial assistance available?
We do not provide financial assistance for our workshops.
ACCOMMODATIONS AND MEALS
Are meals provided?
During your time on campus, lunches and snacks are provided by Stanford. We try our best to accommodate special dietary needs, please notify us of any allergies or other needs by email, at medicineandthemuse@stanford.edu, or through the Contact Us form below.
ATTIRE
What is the typical attire for the workshop?
California business casual attire is requested for classes and meals during the workshop. Because dress codes and terminology vary widely, the rule of thumb is to let comfort and professionalism guide you. Keep in mind, classroom temperatures may vary so we recommend dressing in layers.
DETAILS
What can I expect on the day?
Check in for the workshop will start at 8 AM in the scheduled classroom for the day. If your travel plans necessitate a late arrival, please notify us so alternative registration arrangements can be made for you.

Jen-Hsun Huang Engineering Center is located at 475 Via Ortega, Stanford, CA 94305. Paid visitor parking is available in the Via Ortega Garage, which is located at 498 Via Ortega, Stanford, CA 94305.
